Hi kids.
I often think about my friends. Do you? I have many questions, many things that I wonder about them?
How do I know if they really like me? How do they treat others? How do they treat me? Do they like me only for what I give them or do for them?
Then I have to ask myself the same questions. Do I really love them? How do I treat them? Do I only love them only when they are easy to love?
Of course, the answers to our problems can be found in the Bible. Proverbs 18:24 (King James Version) says “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend (Jesus) that sticketh closer than a brother.” In other words, if I want to have friends, I have to be a friend first.
How should I treat them? Matthew 7:12 (The Message) says, “Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God’s Law and Prophets and this is what you get. Many people call this the Golden Rule.
One last question for now: How long and when should I love my friends? Prov. 17: 17a says, “A friend loveth at all times.” Not just today, but always.
I hope you consider me your friend and I hope that each of us (with God’s help) will be the best friend we can be.
